DAY 2
14Oct2009 Wed, Kuta----Ubub (2hr, 30000rp/pax)

We took local mobil from Kuta Market to Ubud main road. Here is ours transit points:

Kuta----Tegal(40mins,6000rp)----Ubung(10mins,5000rp)----Batubulan(20mins,7000rp)----Sakah(25mins, 5000rp)----Ubud(25mins, 7000rp)


Today is Balinese's Hari Raya, Galungan. Most of the shops and restaurants are closed. They are in holiday, same as those public transporters. Anyway, we are still able to take mobil from Kuta to Ubud, just the fare is relatively more expensive than usual.

In Ubud, we managed to get ours accomodation with the help from Mr Normah, a young balinese. We stayed at Dewi Antara Homestay for 2 nights with 80,000rp per night included breakfast, but no hot water and A/C.

After settle with accomodation, we have lunch at Bebek Bengil, Jl. Hanoman. The famous of Crispy dirty duck is 67,000rp/plate; Roasted pork ribs 62,000rp/plate; Iced bebek putih jambul (dessert) is 26,000rp/serve.

We walked around Ubub town after lunch. We manage to rent a motorbike for 40,000/day. Motorbike is the most convenient transport in Bali, almost every balinese own one. With this motorbike, we has solved the problem of transport for the next 3 days journey.

We has light dinner at Cafe Wayan. I ordered a piece of 'Death by Chocolate' and a glass of avocado juice(18,000rp). Basically, 'Death by Chocolate' is a kind of rich chocolate filled cake. Its speciality is it with alcohol taste, 26,000rp/piece. I like it.

DAY 1
13Oct2009 Tue, KL---Kuta (3hrs)


After 3 hours flight from LCCT to Denpasar International Airport, Pok and I reached at 7pm. Out from airport, we were looking for public transport, meantime we walked toward the direction of Kuta Beach. 'Hello, where u want to go?' 'Kuta Beach. How much for 2 person?' '60,000rp' answered by a taxi driver. ' So expensive, 30000rp ok?' As usual, i would half the price. ' NO No no... tak pisah, can not do' driver answered and tend to leave. Quickly, i said ' cheaper lah, how much u can do ?' ' 50,000rp!' '40,000rp, can?' ' Tak pisah!' Driver closed the door and drove away. Alright, now i know they are able to do at around 50,000rp per trip from airport to Kuta beach.

We continued to walked by the direction to Kuta beach, and hoping could get an offer not more than 50,000rp. Ha ha ha... the next taxi drivers we met had offered us in between 60,000rp to 100,000rp. Crazy! i rather walk.

So we did. Finally, we walked from Denpassar International Airport to Kuta Beach for 1 1/2 hours. Unbelievable, we are strong and STUBBORN too. Turned right to Poppies Lane 1, we were looking for a roof tonight. As a summary of my on the spot survey:

Finally, we agreed to stay at New Arena Hotel 180,000 per night for double bed, with hot water and air cond (AC) facilities. We choose New Arena Hotel because of its reasonable price, clean room, peaceful environment, and warm service. I highly recommend it.
